The left button of the track pad is broken and can’t be out back on because the hinges connecting it are broken. I have thrown the pieces away, revealing the first layer of the inner workings; the silicon nipple and the metallic hinges. The plastic outer casing is broken and the internal plastic hinges are broken.

My Point: What are the chances a local computer repair store would have parts? Would they be able to repair it without opening the casing of the laptop?

The chances are they won’t have it, but how they work is that they buy in the parts and you pay for them to have that part fitted. So you will be able to get it fixed.

I’m planning to buy a laptop for my sis (she’s heading to college) and I’m trying to figure out the pros and cons of buying online versus in-store.

My family has always purchased computer stuff from on-line sites (Dell, Alienware, etc) but in-store (ie. Circuit City, Target, etc) laptops are much cheaper and sometimes come with better options than online. But is there something extra from in-store items that would nip me in the back later on??

I’m not certain on this one. Plz help. Thanks!

The number one advantage of purchasing from a store is that if you have problems with the machine, you can immediately bring it back without having to worry about shipping. And if you need to get accessories for your new machine, they’re right there.

I purchase parts and accessories online a lot, but I like to get my mitts on a machine before I buy it. Plus, it’s less likely to be damaged in shipping.

I know laptops in general, are not cheap but I want to purchase one from an online website that sells brand new ones for good prices. Please let me know of the store or it’s website. I have already checked common stores such as Walmart, Bestbuy, Circuitcity, and so on. I am looking for uncommon stores. Please do not give a link to win a free laptop.

www.cyberpowerpc.com sells good gaming laptops for cheap
check out www.dell.com and click the outlet store great deals. they are just usually brand new returns. i got and 13″ xps for $ 800 at dell
